Referendum on Fourth Nuclear Power Plant takes center stage



l  Amidst mounting domestic pressure, the Ma administration recently expressed its willingness to hold an island-wide referendum to decide the fate of the controversial Fourth Nuclear Power Plant project. Barring something unforeseen, the referendum vote could take place as early as August.

l  In addition, the Ma administration has been considering the likelihood of instituting absentee voting in the upcoming referendum. It is now up to Taiwan's Legislative Yuan (LY) to pass the relevant amendments in the current session.
